How we collect and use information when you use the Sathu mobile app.
This Privacy Policy describes how KAPSDEVELOPMENT AS, organization number 937284624, Norway (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects and uses information when you use the mobile application (the “App”).
The App includes informational temple content and an AI-powered chatbot called Boon.
1. Scope of the App
The App helps users discover Buddhist temples in Thailand, provides information about Thai Buddhist culture, and offers inspirational content.
Certain features of the App, including the Boon chatbot, require users to create a user profile and may require a paid subscription.
2. Information We Collect
a) Account Information
To access certain features, including the Boon chatbot, users may create an account.
Depending on the authentication method used, this may include:
- Email address
- Authentication identifiers
- Basic account information
This information is used only to provide access to the App and its features.
b) Chatbot Interactions (Boon)
The App includes an AI-powered chatbot called Boon.
When users interact with Boon:
- Messages submitted by the user are processed by artificial intelligence systems to generate responses.
- Messages may be processed by third-party AI service providers solely for the purpose of generating responses.
- A limited number of recent messages (approximately the last 20 messages) are stored on a rolling basis to maintain conversational context.
- Older messages are automatically removed as new messages are added.
Users should avoid sharing sensitive personal information such as financial details, health information, or private identifying data when interacting with the chatbot.
Chat messages are used only to provide chatbot functionality and are not used for advertising or profiling.
c) Location Information
The App may access your device’s precise location for two separate purposes:
- temporarily, in order to sort temples based on distance
- when you voluntarily submit a temple photo, to attach associated location information such as latitude, longitude, and accuracy to that submission
Location used only for distance-based temple sorting is not stored and is not publicly displayed.
If you voluntarily submit a temple photo, associated location information such as latitude, longitude, and accuracy may be stored as part of that submission to help with review, moderation, and temple identification.
Submitted location information is not sold, not used for advertising, and not publicly shown as part of the approved temple image.
d) User-Submitted Content
Users may voluntarily submit:
- Photos of temples
- Associated location information such as latitude, longitude, and accuracy
- Optional contributor credit information, such as a credit name or credit link, if the user chooses to be credited
This content is submitted for informational purposes.
Users should upload images of temples or buildings only and should avoid including identifiable individuals or personal information.
Submitted content may be reviewed, stored, moderated, approved, displayed in the App, or removed at our discretion.
e) Contact Messages
The App includes a contact feature that allows users to send messages to us voluntarily.
Users may optionally include an email address.
- Contact messages are delivered directly via email
- They are not stored in the App
- They are used only to respond to inquiries
f) Technical Information
We may collect limited technical information required for the App to function, such as:
- app version
- basic error logs
- device information necessary for operation
This data does not directly identify individual users.
3. Subscriptions and Payments
Certain features of the App, including access to the Boon chatbot, may require a paid subscription.
Payments are processed through:
- Apple App Store
- Google Play Store
We do not collect or store payment information. All payment processing is handled by the respective platform.
Deleting your Sathu account does not automatically cancel billing through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. If you do not want to be charged again, you should manage or cancel your subscription through the relevant store account settings.
4. Third-Party Services
The App may use third-party service providers to operate certain features, including:
- cloud infrastructure providers
- authentication providers
- artificial intelligence service providers
These providers process data only as necessary to provide the App’s functionality.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App is rated 4+ in the Apple App Store.
The App is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the App, please contact us so that the information can be removed.
6. Data Retention
We retain data to provide and improve the App’s functionality.
- Recent chat messages are stored on a rolling basis to maintain conversational context
- Older messages are automatically deleted
- Location used only for distance-based temple sorting is not stored
- User-submitted temple photos and related submission data, including associated location information and optional credit information, may be retained until the user requests deletion or deletes that content through the App, unless a longer retention period is required for legal, security, technical, or dispute-handling reasons
- Contact messages remain only within email correspondence
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws, including:
- the right to request access to your data
- the right to request deletion of your data
You may contact us using the information below.
Users can also delete their account from within the app. Account deletion removes profile data, Boon chat history, and other app data associated with the account. Where available, users may also delete submitted temple photo content through the App. Some billing, compliance, moderation, security, technical, or fraud-prevention records may still be retained where required by law or legitimate business needs.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App evolves.
Updates will be published within the App or on the App’s listing page.
